Nychair X 80 was created in 1980, 10 years after the launch of the original Nychair X. It was developed to meet the changing needs of the times, as people moved from a low seated living environment with tatami mats, to a more western lifestyle with chairs.
While maintaining the enveloping comfort of the chair, the seat height is set higher than that of the original Nychair X, and the backrest can be folded to make it more compact and easier to carry.
In today's world, where we actively seek to incorporate nature and the extraordinary into our everyday lives, it can give us more freedom and broaden possibilities.

Three secrets behind the comfort
Armrest height and angle
The height and angle of the armrest is set so that the arm rests naturally from the elbow. When it is too high, it causes stiff shoulders, and if too low, the weight of the arm is not properly supported
S-shaped backrest
The S-shaped backrest naturally supports the lower back. Without proper support, it is easy to hunch over, resulting in a posture that causes fatigue.
Seat height and depth
The height and depth of the seat is set to allow the feet to firmly rest on the floor. Placing a gap of two fingers length between the back of the knees and the front edge of the seat, provides proper blood flow to the legs and allows you to sit comfortably for an extended period of time.
Compact and lightweight. Can be carried and stands upright when folded
The innovative method of folding the chair by turning both ends of the backrest inwards was invented for Nychair X 80. The chair is even lighter than Nychair X and weights 6 kg. When folded, it remains upright and its compact size allows to save space and reduces the environmental impact in transport. The chair comes already assembled and can be used straight out of the box.
Choose what suits you best from 5 fabric colors and 2 wood colors
The five colors used in fabric were selected to either match sealmessly into the space, or to become an accent piece. You can choose between two beech wood colors: natural and dark brown, coated in urethane resin, which gives ten color combinations total.
Thorough domestic production with commitment to craftsmanship
The parts used to build Nychair X might be simple, but require advanced crafstmanship to achieve beauty in simplicity. Every part is held to high quality standards, so the chairs resulting from the craftsmanship can be enjoyed for a long time.
Fabric
The removable seat fabric is developed expecially for Nychair X and is manufactured in Japan. The fabric is carefully sewn by craftsmens to make a durable seat, which can comfortably support the weight of the entire body of the user and the chair's structure.
Legs
The legs are made of stainless steel, which does not rust easily. Bending the pipe at a perfect angle to fit into the armrests requires a high level of craftsmanship. The manufacturers take measures to avoid scratching the pipe surface during the bending process.
Screws
To avoid breakage due to deterioration and prevent rust, which can make a screw unmovable, we have used stainless steel in new generation model instead of regular steel.
Armrests
The structure of a human arm was taken into consideration to calculate the optimal angle and height of the armrests. Even a small error in hole positioning might affect the angle of the frame and have a huge impact on the level of comfort, so it was necessary to introduce advanced technological solutions.

Seating comfort comparision
It was not common to design with ergonomics in mind when Takeshi Nii was active. He designed Nychair X as a "chair for relaxing", and it could be easily seen as that thanks to its structure.
Below we have categorized the "prototypes of the chairs based on support surface" into 6 styles by their purpose on a spectrum with a "working chair" on one end and "relaxing chair" on the other, and placed Nychair X on the graph.
Nychair X and Nychair X Rocking provide a reclined seating positon and a distinctive higher back, which can provide support for the head, placing them in the "rest" chair category. They are great companions for watching movies, listening to music, or just taking a pause.
Nychair X 80 has a more upright seat compared to Nychair X and Nychair X Rocking, and the seat height makes it easier to sit down and stand up, which places it in in both the "light rest" and "rest" categories. Nychair X 80 can be used with a desk or a table, or separately, for reading or talking.
